Teaching Information
I have been teaching music for 22 years. I teach all brass instruments (see my "Instruments I teach" page). I have experience with students ranging from 4 to 71! Teaching music is a real passion for me, from when students can play their very first tune, through to helping them reach their full potential in exams, auditions, recitals or just for the fun of playing!
My current teaching rates are $72 per hour (pro rata for shorter times) for individual private lessons (more for individual in-school lessons). This includes a studio room hire fee. Private lessons take place after school and on weekends in Epsom, Auckland. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons or not as they wish.
I respect that music lessons are a luxury and often parents make sacrifices in other areas to give their children the opportunity. I always endeavour to ensure students receive the very best lessons they can. I am highly qualified, very experienced, organised, punctual and motivating. (Not to mention fun!)
I have achieved excellent results with students sitting ABRSM and TRINITY examinations, however this is completely optional. Some students prefer less formal goals and these too can be accommodated. I am equally at home teaching young children through to adults and I believe every student deserves the chance to be their best.
My style of teaching varies somewhat depending on the needs of each student, however lessons incorporate goal setting, fun, technical development and working together to pick inspiring, developmentally appropriate repertoire.
